NLC president, Ayuba Wabba, stated this while speaking after the Central Working Committee (NAC) and National Administrative Council (NAC) met at the Labour House. Wabba confirmed that their meeting with the Federal Government on Tuesday ended in a deadlock. “It was resolved that the Federal Government has within two weeks to reverse the increases or face industrial action “It was also resolved that the Central Working Committee (CWC) will meet on September 22, 2020, to give effect to the CWC resolutions if the prices are not reversed before that date. “We are also mobilising our civil society allies for the action because it is presently deepening poverty among the working class,” Wabba said. The United States of America has imposed visa ban on politicians, who it claimed undermined the conducts of the November 2019 governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa States. This move is in the run-up to the September and October 2020 governorship polls in Edo and Ondo respectively. The spokesperson for the Department of State, Morgan Ortagus, disclosed this in a statement on Monday. “In July 2019, we announced the imposition of visa restrictions on Nigerians who undermined the February and March 2019 elections. “Today, the Secretary of State is imposing additional visa restrictions on individuals for their actions surrounding the November 2019 Kogi and Bayelsa State elections and in the run up to the September and October 2020 Edo and Ondo State elections,” the statement read in part. It added that these individuals whose identities were not revealed, “operated with impunity at the expense of the Nigerian people and have undermined democratic principles.”

Healthcare workers at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, on Monday, joined the nationwide strike called by the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU). NAN reports that many essential places in the hospital, including the pharmacy, the medical records section and two of the main gates into the hospital were locked. The JOHESU Chairman, UCH Chapter, Mr. Adeolu Alli, said the strike became imperative after “a long period” — three years of waiting on the Federal Government.
