NCDC announces 276 COVID-19 cases as total hits 8344 The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday announced that Nigeria recorded two hundred and seventy-six, 276, COVID-19 cases. The agency in a tweet said Lagos recorded 161 cases, while Rivers State followed with 36. It added that the total number of confirmed cases in the country now stands at 8344. 50 trafficked Nigerian girls, others evacuated from Lebanon Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, has announced that 69 Nigerians who were evacuated from Lebanon have arrived the country. Onyeama, who disclosed this in a tweet via his Twitter account, said the evacuees- 50 trafficked Nigerian girls and 19 stranded Nigerians arrived in Abuja on Sunday. He said “With the financial and logistic support of the Lebanese Government and Lebanese community in Nigeria, 50 trafficked Nigerian girls and 19 stranded Nigerians were successfully evacuated and arrived Nigeria today. “Profound gratitude to Ambassador Houssam Diad, Lebanesse Ambassador in Nigeria and Ambassador Goni Zannabura, Nigerian Ambassador in Lebanon.” DAILY POST recalls that two hundred and ninety-two  Nigerians evacuated from Saudi Arabia  due to the Coronavirus pandemic arrived in Nigeria on Wednesday.

Coronavirus: FG makes clarifications on reopening of schools The Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, has disclosed that the Federal Government is already making plans to reopen schools nationwide but it won’t happen in two weeks as being speculated in some quarters. Speaking during the daily briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 on Thursday, Nwajiuba said there was no exact date yet as to when schools will reopen. He also urged members of the public to disregard rumours making the round on social media that the Federal Government would reopen schools in the next two weeks.
