  Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has appealed to the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) to call off the strike as the country needs them now amid the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that the Federal Government would continue to do its best to push through the negotiations with the JOHESU to resolve all issues and call its members back to work.   The Ebonyi State Government has announced that it will re-open schools in the state on Oct. 5, 2020, with the exception of kindergarten and crèches. The Commissioner for Education, Onyebuchi Chima, announced the plan on Thursday while briefing newsmen at the end of the state’s Executive Council meeting in Abakaliki. Chima described the executive council meeting as a “good one’’ for the state ministry of education as it approved the memo from the ministry for the re-opening of schools. “The resumption will be for the primary, secondary and tertiary levels of education as academic activities will be ‘staggered’ according to the ministry’s recommendation. “This means that there will be two sections for schools: morning and afternoon sessions with the morning sessions starting from 8 .a.m to 12 p.m., while the afternoon will start from 12.15 p.m. to 4.p.m. “The junior primary section: 1–3 and junior secondary 1-3 classes will have their sessions in the morning, while the senior prima...

NLC president, Ayuba Wabba, stated this while speaking after the Central Working Committee (NAC) and National Administrative Council (NAC) met at the Labour House. The United States of America has imposed visa ban on politicians, who it claimed undermined the conducts of the November 2019 governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa States. This move is in the run-up to the September and October 2020 governorship polls in Edo and Ondo respectively. The spokesperson for the Department of State, Morgan Ortagus, disclosed this in a statement on Monday. “In July 2019, we announced the imposition of visa restrictions on Nigerians who undermined the February and March 2019 elections. “Today, the Secretary of State is imposing additional visa restrictions on individuals for their actions surrounding the November 2019 Kogi and Bayelsa State elections and in the run up to the September and October 2020 Edo and Ondo State elections,” the statement read in part. It added that these individuals whose identities were not revealed, “operated with impunity at the expense of the Nigerian people and have undermined democratic principles.” ...
